Yip tours the nutrient recovery facilities at the European Space Agency HQ!

June 17, 2024

Yip visits the European Space Agency (ESA) headquarters in Paris to tour the nutrient recovery technology in their urine separation toilets (all 72 toilets in the building--impressive!). The process is developed as part of the MELiSSA (Micro-Ecological Life Support System Alternative) project for circular life support systems in space.

A sample bottle of the concentrated urine fertilizer (not for sale in France yet because of regulatory constraints).

Special thanks to Laurent Jauniaux (ESA, picture here), Chloe Audas and Christophe Lasseur (MELiSSA), and Nadège de Chambrier (vunanexus)!
