Our study titled "Removal of Trace Toxic Oxyanions from Hypersaline Brines Using Temperature Swing Solvent Extraction" has been published in ACS ES&T Water.

We showed that temperature swing solvent extraction (TSSE) not only handles extremely high salinities beyond the reach of conventional desalination methods but also achieves excellent rejection of toxic oxyanions such as selenate and arsenate—with less than 0.20% of these anions detected in the product water. Further analysis of ion partitioning revealed that the solubility limit of the salt in pure water is a key factor governing anion transport in the biphasic amine-water-salt systems.

This study highlights the broad capabilities of the technology to treat complex brines containing trace micropollutants.
