Yuxuan Huang

Ph.D. Students

Ph.D. Candidate, Earth & Environmental Engineering, Columbia University
M.S., Earth & Environmental Engineering, Columbia University, 2018
B.E., Energy Science and Engineering, City University of Hong Kong, 2017, Hong Kong

Yuxuan joined the Yip group in Dec. 2017 to do his master thesis and then as a PhD student since 2019. His research centers around efficient ion separations, which are increasingly crucial in the realms of water, energy, and the environment. Yuxuan is dedicated to addressing two primary constraints of current ion-exchange membranes (IEMs): 1) their limited ability to selectively filter specific ionic species and 2) their reduced performance under high-salinity conditions. His work spans membrane transport theories, innovative membrane development, advanced membrane characterization techniques, and pioneering process innovations.

Outside academic work, Yuxuan enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, and visiting museums.
